2. Coco Chanel:
Gabrielle Bonheur Coco Chanel was born on 19 August 1883 in France and died on 10 January 1971 in Paris. She was French fashion designer and businesswoman. The founder and namesake of the Chanel brand, she was credited in the post-world war I era with popularizing a sporty, casual chic as the feminine standard of style. This replaced the "corseted silhouette" that had earlier been dominant with a style that was simpler, far less time-consuming to put on and remove, more comfortable, and less expensive, all without sacrificing elegance. Chanel was born into poverty in the French countryside, her mother died, and her father abandoned her to an orphanage. After a brief stint as a shop girl, Chanel worked for a few years as cafe singer. She later became associated with a few wealthy men and in 1913, with financial assistance from one of them, Arthur Capel, opened a tiny millinery shop in Deauville France, where she also sold simple sportswear, such as jersey sweaters. Within five years her original use of jersey fabric to create a "poor girl" look and attracted the attention of influential wealthy women seeking relief from the prevalent corseted styles. Faithful to her maxim that "luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury." Chanel's designs stressed simplicity and comfort and revolutionized the fashion industry.
Work and Achievements:
Chanel designed the Chanel suit, which was originally presented around 1923. it consisted of three pieces, a jacket without a collar or shoulder pads, elements that up to that point were indispensable in women's fashion. She also wore a tight, knee-length skirt and a soft, comfortable fabric blouse. Another of her revelations in fashion was the presentation of the black dress. Until Chanel revolutionized the world of haute couture, western women reserved black for occasions of mourning and sadness. Thanks to the French, the little black dress became an equivalent to the male gala dress, related to elegance and style. Chanel produced luxury garments with cheap materials, in addition they could be easily reproduced without making them "cheap" or "vulgar". Chanel has been the only fashion designer to enter the magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century time.
