Cricket World Cup
The Cricket World Cup, officially known as ICC Men Cricket World Cup or also called as World Cup is the international championship of One-Day International (ODI) Cricket. The tournament is organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in every four years. The tournament is one of the world most loved and most viewed sporting events. It is the pinnacle championship of the sport of Cricket. The first World Cup was organized in England in June 1975, since evolved into an epic cricketing saga with a storied history that transcends boundaries, cultures, and languages. National teams from ICC member countries participate, representing their nations and competing in the 50-over format, where each team gets 50 overs to demonstrate their prowess with both batting and balling. The format of the ICC World Cup typically followed by knockout rounds and then culminating in a Grand Finale, which determines the ultimate champion. Through the years, the world cup has produced countless epic and memorable moments. Many cricketers made unbeatable records and achievements which are a source of inspiration even today.
Host Countries and Final Match
1975 - England:
The 1975 Cricket World Cup was the first Cricket World Cup tournament, which also called the Prudential Cup. This was held from June 7 to June 21, 1975. The final was played at the Lords Cricket ground in England between West Indies and Australia.
1979 - England:
The 1979 Cricket World Cup was the second Cricket World Cup tournament, which also held in England between June 9 to June 23, 1979. The final was played at the Lord's Cricket ground between West Indies and England.
1983 - England:
The 1983 Cricket World Cup was the third Cricket World Cup Tournament. The tournament was held in England for the third consecutive time, between 9 and 25 June 1983. The final was played between India and the West Indies at Lords Cricket ground in England.
1987 - India and Pakistan:
The 1987 Cricket World Cup was the fourth Cricket World Cup tournament. The tournament was held jointly in India and Pakistan from October 9 to November 8, 1987. At the time this Cup is called Reliance Cup. The final was played between Australia and England at the Eden Gardens stadium in Calcutta, India.
1992 - Australia and New Zealand:
The 1992 Cricket World Cup was the fifth Cricket World Cup tournament. The tournament was held jointly in Australia and New Zealand. The final was played between Pakistan and England in Melbourne, Australia.
1996 - India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka:
The 1996 Cricket World Cup was the sixth Cricket World Cup tournament. It was co-hosted by India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. It was the second World Cup to be hosted by India and Pakistan, and for the first time by Sri Lanka. The United Arab Emirates, Kenya, and the Netherlands made their debuts in this World Cup.
1999 - England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and Netherlands:
The 1999 Cricket World Cup returned to England after sixteen years. Some matches also played in Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and Netherlands. The twelve-tournament teams comprised the nine full-ICC members along with three associate members - Kenya, and for the first time, Bangladesh, and Scotland. The final was played between Australia and Pakistan at Lord's Cricket ground, London.
2003 - South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Kenya:
The 2003 Cricket World Cup held in Southern Africa, co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Kenya. It was played between 9 February and 24 March 2003. The final was played between Australia and India on 24 March in Johannesburg.
2007 - West Indies:
The 2007 Cricket World Cup was the ninth Cup held in April 2007 and the first time it had been held in the West Indies. The final was played between Australia and Sri Lanka.
2011 - Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka:
The 2011 Cricket World Cup was the tenth Cup held in Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka. It was the tenth anniversary of this tournament. Originally also Pakistan was going to co-host this event, but due to security concerns Pakistan's hosting rights were revoked. The final was played between India and Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 2 April 2011.
2015 - Australia and New Zealand:
The 2015 Cup was the 11th ICC World Cup, which is co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The final match was played between Australia and New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 29 February 2015.
2019 - England and Wales:
The 2019 Cup was the 12th ICC World Cup, hosted by England and Wales. The tournament was held from 30 May to 15 July 2019, with final played at Lord's Cricket Ground in London, between England and New Zealand.
2023 - India:
The 2023 Cup is the 13th ICC World Cup hosted by India. It was the first time India is hosting this event on their own. In 2011 India co-hosted with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and in 1966 India co-hosted with Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The final match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, between Australia and India.

In the year 1975, the final match was played between Australia and West Indies on 21 June. Where West Indies won by 17 runs and Australia become runner up. West Indies made 291 scores and Australia made 274 runs at Lords Cricket Stadium.
Year 1979:
In the year 1979, the final match was played between England and West Indies on 23 June. Where West Indies won by 92 runs and England become runner up. West Indies made 286 runs and England made 194 runs at Lords Cricket Stadium.
Year 1983:
In the year 1983, the final match was played between West Indies and India on 25 June. Where India won by 43 runs and West Indies become runner up. West Indies made 140 runs and India made 183 runs at Lords Cricket Stadium.

In the year 1987, the final match was played between England and Australia on 8 November. Where Australia won by 7 runs and England become runner up. Australia made 253 runs and England made 246 runs at Eden Gardens Stadium.

In the year 1992, the final match was played between Pakistan and England on 25 march. Where Pakistan won by 22 runs and England become runner up. England made 227 runs and Pakistan made 249 runs at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In the year 1996, the final match was played between Australia and Sri Lanka on 27 March. Where Sri Lanka won by 7 wickets and Australia become runner up. Australia made 241 runs and Sri Lanka made 245 runs at Gaddafi Stadium.
